I guys. I want to share my top 10 tips for young artistz who may be feeling too shy to show their drawings online. It’s natural to feel nervous when putting your work out into the world, but with the right mindset and guidance, you can overcome your shyness and share your art with confidence. Let’s start the top 10 list:
- Believe in your talent: Remind yourself that your art is unique and valuable. Every artist has their own style, and your creations deserve to be seen and appreciated. Now you just need to grow your style!
- Practice makes perfect: The more you practice, the more confident you’ll become in your skills. Work on your art regularly, and don’t be afraid to try new techniques and styles. Remember that there is a learning curve, so be kind to yourself and make as many mistakes to learn from as you possibly can!
- Seek constructive feedback: Share your art with trusted friends, family members, or online communities that offer constructive feedback. This can help you grow as an artist and boost your confidence. Sadly, some people are mean. But it doesn’t mean you should shy away from creating and drawing and having fun doing art. It just means you need to be prepared for that, and the preparation is easy – if people are mean, don’t show them your art. Show it to someone who understands that it’s a process to improve.
- Take baby steps: Start by sharing your work on smaller platforms or in private groups before moving to larger, public platforms. Seriously, start out by showing your mom and dad, and then your family or friends. This can help you ease into the process and build your confidence gradually.
- Learn from others: Study the work of artists you admire, and use their techniques and approaches to inspire and improve your own art. Do I need to tell you I have a YouTube channel? GOOD!
- Focus on your artistic journey: Remember that art is a personal journey of growth and self-expression. It’s not about being perfect but about continually learning and evolving. I am still on my journey, and I still have things to learn. Remember that – we are never finished. If you perfect something, you can learn something new and try and combine it. Try learning hands and then putting them on your character 😉
- Keep a positive mindset: Embrace both your successes and challenges, and stay open to learning from each experience. This will help you build resilience and maintain a positive outlook. Go and read my article on the mental game and the 5 Ps of drawing!
- Connect with like-minded peers: Join online art communities, forums, or social media groups where you can connect with fellow young artists who understand your passion and can support you on your journey. You know what’s more fun than drawing by yourself? Having a little group of people around you that also wants to help each other improve! If you can’t find them irl, find them online.
- Embrace vulnerability: Understand that sharing your art makes you vulnerable, but it also opens doors for growth, inspiration, and connection with others. Learning how to draw can even help you take your mind of or express things in life that can be hard to deal with. It’s a therapist, a sanctuary and an escape, if you want it to be!
- Celebrate your progress: Acknowledge your achievements, both big and small, and be proud of the progress you’ve made. Celebrate every milestone in your artistic journey, and remember that you deserve to be seen and appreciated. This is actually great advice. I f.ex. bought an ipad pro for the first money I made on YouTube!
Overcoming shyness and and that nasty stuff – lol – and sharing your art online *sulk* (?) is an important step in your artistic journey. Embrace your talent, believe in your work, and be proud of what you create by using YOUR hands and head. By following these tips, you can gradually build your confidence and share your incredible works with the world. Keep creating, young artists, and let your creativity shine!
Love from,
